We are delighted that you are thinking of getting married in St Mary’s Church.
All bookings for marriages should be made with our Wedding Co-ordinator, Mrs Kath Randell, Tel 01525 862600 or email address email@example.com
Kath will be able to tell you if the date and time you would like are available. If having made a booking you find you need to alter the date and/or the time; please contact Kath as soon as possible.
You will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £100, at the time of making a definite booking, to secure the requested date and time. Cheques should be made payable to St. Mary’s PCC.
Although it may seem an obvious thing to mention; a marriage in church is significantly different from a civil ceremony conducted by a registrar. A wedding in church takes place in the context of a service of prayer and thanksgiving. Marriage vows, which you will make before God and his people, are made with the clear intention that they are for life, so the priest conducting your service will need to meet with you before the wedding, for an informal chat about the service and to discuss what it means to you both.
The Legal Preliminaries-
Banns are usually called on the first three Sundays of the month preceding your wedding. If one or both of you live in another parish it will be necessary to call the banns there too; it is your responsibility to make arrangements with that parish and to obtain a certificate after they have been called.
Flower decorations inside the Church-
You may wish the church to be decorated for your special day, and Kath will be able to advise about the options available. You may of course wish for a florist or friends and family members to do the flowers for you, but you still need to discuss this with Kath in order to arrange access to the church, and the availability of flowers stands etc. Artificial flowers should not be used in floral arrangements in a church.
If you are unsure about the music you would like played for your wedding, we are happy to help you with suggestions of popular pieces for processions and hymns. Kath will need to inform our organist of your final choice in good time.
The Priest taking your service will discuss, with your photographer, when they arrive on the day, what is permissible during the service itself.
It is possible to video record the service in the following circumstances:
- No artificial lighting may be used.
- The camera operator must remain stationed in a fixed position during the service, the camera position having been agreed with the Priest before the service begins.
- An additional fee of £100 is payable if a commercial video firm is used.
